Children in the Wilderness

Donate to the event

Children in the Wilderness is an environmental and life skills educational program, formed between the late Paul Newman and Wilderness Safaris in 2001. Children in the Wilderness exposes children to their wildlife heritage, and builds and strengthens their capabilities to cope with life’s challenges. It focuses on the next generation of rural decision makers, teaching children the importance of conservation.

The Tour de Tuli 2010 cycle tour is a benefit ride for the Children in the Wilderness program. In August of 2010 three of us will embark on this adventurous charity event in South Africa. We hope to raise $10,000. We have organized a US based donation page through an approved IRS 501(3C) organization called Resources First Foundation.

You can help us by donating to the event. All donations of $50 or more will receive a coupon good for any fine art 8×10 hand signed image of the event or any image my web site. Donations of a $100 or more will receive a free 11×14 hand signed print. Donations of $250 or more will receive a free custom framed, and matted, hand signed 11×14 print.

I became involved in this event through my volunteer work at Just Footprints, a camp for HIV-infected children in South Africa. They are currently building a camp similar to the Hole in the Wall Camps for the children of Africa suffering from HIV/Aids. It is my hope that through education, we will help build a better future for the children of the world.

The ride will traverse three different countries: Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa; and three National Parks: Northern Tuli Game Reserve, Tuli Safari Area and Mapungubwe National Park.  The cycle tour will end in the beautiful Mapungubwe National Park. Thank you for all your support!
